Channel Bond
The main feature of Ventex’s channel Bond is that it requires no mixing. It is a single component adhesive meaning that you don’t have to worry about purchasing multiple components, saving you money. Channel Bond also leaves less room for error in a shop. You don’t have to worry about mixing, who did what, or any communication issues. You will only have to worry about the application. It is meant for trim cap to polycarbonate applications and is thicker than most similar products.

With Channel Bond it is recommended to leave a gap, fill gap with the adhesive, move and secure, and give your application another once over. Channel Bond begins to solidify and not run around 45 minutes and is ready for handling after 4 to 5 minutes, but it’s recommended to let it cure further before moving. Channel Bond needs 4 to 5 hours to reach 80% strength and cure. These times are associated with the average temperature of a sign shop.

Channel Bond comes in gallons or quarts. Quarts are recommended for mid-sized shops because of Channel Bonds shelf life. Unopened it is said to be good for 2-12 months, and opened with cap is only 2-20 weeks. This variation in shelf-life comes from the temperature of the shop it is stored in. Higher temperatures make the shelf life toward the lower end—2 months or 2 weeks—so it is wise to be conscious of how you store your supplies. Channel Bond is known to be a shop favorite, go-to channel letter adhesive for most.

Resin Bond
Resin Bond is Ventex’s other single component adhesive they offer. Resin bond is meant for trim cap to acrylic applications. It is very similar to Channel bond in many ways. From being a single component and offering less room for error, and having similar setting times and properties. Resin Bond is thinner, however, and when left unopened can live on your shelf indefinitely. After opening it can last between 2 weeks to indefinitely. It all depends on the temperature it is kept within. With Resin Bond there is no need for gapping, like the thicker Channel Bond. You simply Apply, secure, and reapply another coat.

The attraction to Channel and Resin Bond is the fact that it is a single component adhesive and leaves less room for error in the process. You could save time in your process as well, not needing to mix your adhesive. It also means that while you would have to pay for multiple cans and mix together other types, you won’t have to pay for separate components when choosing Ventex’s product.
