Avery Dennison Paint Protection Films (PPF)
What Is PPF?
Paint Protection FIlm (PPF) is a high quality polyurethane film that helps to prevent damage on the painted surfaces of a vehicle. The film protects against damage caused by stone chips and road debris. The self healing topcoat also helps to prevent staining caused by insects, bird droppings, and tree sap. This film is also used on airplanes, RVs, cell phones, electronics, screens, motorcycles and many other areas. What is the benefit of using PPF?
The benefit of using a paint protection film is that you prevent the inevitable rock chips that happen on the front bumper and front part of the hood of your vehicle. By preventing these rock chips and other minor paint damage, you can keep your car looking new which will ultimately improve the resale value of your car.
Typical areas where PPF film is used include bumpers, hoods (full or the front 12 inches), mirrors, 6-12” above the windshield going onto the roof. These are all areas that are susceptible to damage from rock chips. Other areas where a PPF might be used would be high-traffic areas such as door edges, door jams, hood edges, trunk edges. Door cups are also a common area to PPF to help reduce fingernail scratching.
PPF is no longer limited to just a clear gloss. We now have an option of a matte clear (Supreme Defense™ Matte) and a gloss black (neo™ noir), which allows you to provide a unique look while protecting the vehicle. The neo noir is a Hybrid gloss black PPF that can add accents to mirrors and transform the roof and hood. This PPF film does more than stop rocks, it can totally transform the look of the car as well! The Supreme Defense Matte provides a nice smooth matte finish while keeping the original OEM paint color.
Should I PPF my car?
If you are the kind of person who wants your car to be perfect, with glossy or matte paint, and plans to preserve the value to the highest possible standard, paint protection film is definitely worth it. Paint protection film is nearly undetectable, has self healing properties to keep swirls away. The gloss carries a 10 year warranty while the matte and neo noir carry a 5 year warranty.
